NORTH SOUTH BYPASS TUNNEL (CLEM JONES TUNNEL)

The Clem Jones Tunnel (CLEM7) was Brisbane's first major road tunnel. The project has an overall length of 6.8km and can carry more than 100,000 vehicles a day, bypassing Brisbane's CBD.

The Leighton and Baulderstone Bilfinger Berger Joint Venture (LBBJV) contracted DME to manufacture and install 34 curved box girder sections for the road tunnel.

Each section was 3m wide and in total measured 475m long and weighed around 900T.

The sections were fabricated in our Sydney workshop and transported by road to Brisbane where they were installed by our project team.
